Full Day-by-Day Itinerary
A scenic light-aircraft flight from Nairobi's Wilson Airport direct to Lewa's private airstrip. Check in at camp in time for lunch, then head out on an afternoon game drive across the conservancy - one of Kenya's most important rhino sanctuaries. Overnight on a full-board basis.
A full day combining vehicle game drives with a guided rhino tracking walk alongside Lewa's conservation rangers, learning firsthand about the conservancy's work protecting both black and white rhino. Overnight on a full-board basis.
Morning visit to a local community conservation project supported by the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, followed by an optional horseback or mountain-biking safari across the plains for experienced riders. Overnight on a full-board basis.
A full day of game drives in search of Lewa's predators, including one of Kenya's last strongholds for African wild dog, finishing with a sundowner drink overlooking the plains. An optional night game drive can be arranged. Overnight on a full-board basis.
A final morning game drive, then transfer to the airstrip for your light-aircraft flight back to Nairobi.
Best Time to Visit
Year-round, though the dry seasons (Jun-Oct, Jan-Feb) offer the clearest game viewing
High Season - Jun-Oct & Jan-Feb
Dry weather makes for the clearest game viewing, with animals gathering at rivers and waterholes. Masai Mara river crossings peak July-October. Expect busier parks and the highest rates of the year.
Low Season - Mar-May & Nov
The "green season" brings lush scenery, dramatic skies and newborn wildlife, with far fewer visitors and the lowest accommodation rates. Expect afternoon showers, muddier roads and a handful of camps closed for maintenance.
What to Expect
Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in northern Kenya, is one of Africa's most successful private conservation stories - a pioneering model that has helped grow Kenya's black rhino population and protects one of the last strongholds of the endangered African wild dog. Low visitor numbers and exclusive-use camps make it a favourite for travelers seeking a more private, conservation-focused safari.
